Personality disorders: particularly unusual patterns of behaviour (relative to one"s cultural context) that are maladaptive, distressing to oneself or others, and resistant to change. Dsm-5 identifies 10 personality disorders clustered into three groups: cluster a: characterized by odd or eccentric behaviour and include paranoid. Personality disorder: cluster b: characterized by emotional behaviours including antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, cluster c: characterized by anxious and inhibited behaviour including avoidant personality disorder, dependent personality disorder, ocd. In addition to these 10 disorders, the dsm-5 also identifies personality disorder not. Otherwise specified, which is a diagnosis given to individuals who exhibit patterns of behaviour consistent with that of a personality disorder, but which does not fit into any of the personality disorder categories described above. Borderline personality disorder: characterized by intense extremes between positive and negative emotions, an unstable sense of self, impulsivity and difficult social relationships.
