Allport was the first person to make a systematic attempt to identify all possible traits. The barnum effect is one someone believes that a personality profile fits them even when it doesnt. Factor analysis is used to group items that people respond to similarly. Five factor model a trait based theory of personality based on the finding that personality can be described using five major dimensions.
