Binet: believed intelligence was based on performance of paper tests. Imagery, attention, comprehension, imagination, judgements of visual space, memory etc. The binet-simon test was the first intelligence test (1905) Thurstone found 7 factors that contribute to intelligence. Ability to use known experience/knowledge and apply it. Ability to adapt to new knowledge and apply it. Teratogens: factor that causes malformation of an embryo. Object permanence: understand that objects exist even when not seen. Sensorimotor period: cognition is tied to external stimulation. Preoperational period: learn to think logically and use symbols (language) Egocentric bias: to rely too heavily on one own"s perspective. Lack conservation: ability to determine that a certain quantity will remain the same despite the change of the container shape/size. Transitivity: ability to classify objects according to specific properties. Increase in ability to perform logical operations and the emergence of empathy. Begin to learn how to perform abstract logical operations.
