Emerging adults are people who leave home for the first ime, start university, start working a job and paying bills, commit to a romantic partner, and deal with the crises of their friends! There are 3 main areas of personal growth: relationships, new possibilities, and personal strength. Changes happen slowly and happen after middle-aged adulthood. Menopause affects woman at around age 50, is the termination of the menstrual cycle and reproductive ability. Reduces estrogen levels, reduces sex drive, and causes hot flashes. In general, as we age, there is reduced volume of white and grey matter in the cerebral cortex and the memory-processing hippocampus. Cognitive decline in adults is explained by aging of the prefrontal cortex. Neurodegenerative conditions loss of nerve cells and nervous system functioning. As disease progress, people experience severe confusion, memory loss, and cannot recognize their own family members. It also causes personality changes, but does not cause obsessive behaviors.
