PSYB04H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 13: Interrupted Time Series, Larceny, Internal Validity
Document Summary
Quasi-experiments: a quasi-experiment differs from a true experiment in that the researchers do not have full experimental control, they start by selecting an independent variable and a dependent variable. Then they study participants who are exposed to each level of the independent variable: however, in a quasi-experiment, they might not be able to randomly assign participants to one level or the other. Instead, participants are assigned to the independent variable conditions by teachers, political regulations, acts of nature, or by choice. Any child who qualifies for head start has a right to enroll. Head start by social workers and administrators; they cannot be randomly assigned to head. Start versus some comparison program: researchers found a comparison group of children. However, even though the head start children and the comparison children had similar achievement scores, they were probably different in other ways.
