Di erent participants at each level of the iv. Nonequivalent control group design has at least one treatment group and one comparison group but no random assignment. Compared performance of kids in program to those not in it; policy is the one that controlled assignment because social workers and administrators put anyone who was eligible in the program, not randomly assigned. Kids weren"t randomly assigned to the groups so they weren"t perfectly equivalent groups ended up having similar achievement scores but were di erent in other ways, such as income. Wanted to randomly assign people to have cosmetic surgery but can"t do that so they used people who had already done it versus people who had said they would but hadn"t yet. Iv was having it or not, dv was measures of self-esteem/well-being/attractiveness but people weren"t randomly assigned. This is a nonequivalent control group pretest/posttest design because they weren"t randomly assigned and were tested before and after intervention.
