Cognitive approaches to personality focus on the differences in how people think; e. g. 2 people can see the same thing and process different info about it, 2 diff perceptions arise. Personalizing cognition scene prompts you to recall a similar event from your own life; e. g. seeing a picture and remembering when you had a head wound like that. Objectifying cognition scene prompts you to recall objective facts about the distribution of blood vessels in human head. Cognition general term; refers to awareness and thinking, and specific mental acts such as perceiving, attending to, interpreting, remembering, believing, judging, deciding, anticipating. Information processing transformation of sensory input into mental representations and the manipulation of such representations. 3 levels of cognition: perception process of imposing order on the info our sense organs take in; e. g. 2 people can look at the same thing and perceive different things.
