More research on this than any other psychological disorder. Schizophrenia: psychotic disorder characterized by major disturbances in thought, emotion and behavior. Disordered thinking in which ideas are not logically related, faulty perception and attention, flat or inappropriate affect and bizarre disturbances in motor activity. Auditory and visual hallucinations more in african nations. Usually appears in late adolescence or early adulthood. Number of acute episodes, with less severe symptoms in between. Clinical symptoms of schizophrenia: no essential symptom must be present for diagnosis, thus people with schizo can differ more than people with other disorders! Positive symptoms: excesses or distortions (disorganized speech, hallucinations, delusions, define acute episode, presence of too much of behavior that is not apparent in most people. Delusions: beliefs held contrary to reality, common positive symptom, examples: thoughts are broadcasted so others can know their thoughts feelings/behaviors controlled by external force.
