Two implications: (1) will need to learn self-regulation and self-control (2) will be more influenced by peers e c n e r e f e r. Infants begin to recognize a peer as a social partner between 6 and 12 months. 12 24 months: increase in locomotion which increases complexity of social exchange. 25 36 months: main social achievement is ability to share meaning with a social partner. Children"s social development is mirrored by their play. Once a child has developed the ability for a stage of play, he or she may use that stage and preceding stages throughout the day. Child plays alone with little or no reference to what other children are doing. Some forms of solitary play are signs hat children are uneasy interacting with others.
