Positive and negative reinforcement always increases a behaviour. Look at target, consequence of behaviour, and what happened to behaviour in future. Occurs when aversive stimulus is already present avoidance over time, gets strengthened. Occurs when aversive stimulus has not occurred yet or may not occur. Negative reinforcement: being at the beach, sun burning the sand, run into the water so feet don"t hurt. Primary behaviours innate secondary behaviours learnt. Previously neutral stimuli become reinforcing because hierarchally allowed it to take place always starting from an unconditioned reinforce.
