PSYB45H3 Chapter 3: Chapter 3 notes
Document Summary
Graphing behaviour and measuring change: graphs are used to identify the level of behaviour before treatment and after treatment begins, long period after treatment has been implemented is called follow up period. Graphing behavioural data: behaviour is recorded on data sheet-then put on graph. Graphing different dimensions of behaviour: what changes is y-axis label and numbering on y -axis, for y-axis use percentage of behaviour, for other aspects of behaviour clearly label it so it properly describes it. Just two phases: a = baseline, b = treatment, can see if behaviour changes after treatment is implemented, does not show a functional relationship because the phases aren"t replicated, therefore not a true research design. A-b-a-b design: baseline and treatment phases are implemented twice, careful: not ethical to remove treatment in second baseline if behaviour is dangerous (self-harm, sometimes you can"t remove the treatment because its impossible if treatment was teaching something.
