Uncondiioned reinforcers refer to simuli or events important for survival or biological funcioning. Condiioned reinforcers refer to simuli that have become reinforcers due to paricular learning. Simuli that"s originally reinforcing, but become reinforcers by being associated with other reinforcers. Main advantage is that they can usually be delivered more immediately than the backup reinforcer can. Help to bridge delays between behaviour and more powerful reinforcers. Ex: praise, picture of loved one, favourite t. v. programs. Tokens are condiioned reinforcers that can be accumulated and exchanged for backup reinforcers. Token economy (tokens system) refers to a behaviour modiicaion program in which individual earn tokens for speciic behaviour and cash in for backup reinforcer(s) Backup reinforcers are those associated with condiioned reinforcers. Simple condiioned reinforcer is a condiioned reinforcer paired with a single backup reinforcer. Generalized condiioned reinforcer is a condiioned reinforcer paired with more than one kind of backup reinforcer. Ex: praise can be expressed by smile, hug, play, treat, toy etc.
