Document Summary

Diferential reinforcement schedules and procedures for decreasing behaviour. Diferenial reinforcement schedules/procedures refer to those that reinforce speciic rates (high or low) of responding. Diferenial reinforcement refers to applying reinforcement to a correct response, and no reinforcement when there"s no correct response. Reinforcer"s presented a paricular response occurs at a low rate. Reinforcer"s presented number of responses does not exceed a speciied max during a certain ime interval. Reinforcer"s presented behaviour occurs ater (not during) a speciied interval has passed. Max number can be speciied for enire session or for separate intervals throughout session. Useful under 2 condiions: (1) some of the behaviour is tolerable (2) less of the behaviour is beter. Ex: telling a child that if they get out of their seat < 3 imes in an hour, they"ll get play ime. Requires behaviour to be spaced out over ime. Useful when behaviour to be reduced is actually desirable if it doesn"t occur at too high of a rate.
