Document Summary

Chapter 11 getting a new sequence of behaviours to occur with behaviour chaining. Aka stimulus-response chain: consistent sequence of stimuli and responses; last response is followed by reward. Best to treat the weakest link / chain for an effective training procedure. S+ = positive reinforcer follows the last response. The responses and stimuli must be close in time for it to be a behavioural chain (e. g. seconds apart) Total-task presentation method: learner attempts all steps from beginning to end in every trial until success. Forward-chaining method: going forward, adding one step at a time for each trial. Forward and total chaining method more commonly used for everyday situations with non-trained analysts. Chaining, fading, shaping are called gradual change procedures involved step-by-step control, forming new behaviours, control of stimulus, or developing new sequence of behaviours. Develop new behaviour, altering the topography, intensity, amount etc. Unstructured environment to enable learner has to emit different variety of behaviours.
