PSYB65H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 10: Mental Rotation, Motion Detection, Parietal Lobe
Document Summary
When we process the position, direction, or movement of objects or points in space we are using spatial ability. Targeting how well you can throw an object at target. Spacial visualization how well you can imagine putting pieces together. Disembedding how well you can make out an embedded figure in an image. Spacial location memory remembering location of objects. Spatial perception determining horizontal/vertical lines in the real world. Right hemisphere dominance (evidence presentation in left-visual field) Focusing on features to figure out which is object is in front of the other and what"s closer to you. Impairment in this results in left & right hemisphere lesions: this is controlled by left hemisphere. Global depth perception: using difference from the images that arrive at both eyes to determine depth, right hemisphere dominance. Use this all the time to distinguish between letters (d and p) Tactile and visual assessment = right hemisphere.
