PSYC37H3 Chapter 7: Chapter 7
Document Summary
Behaviour of examiner and relationship to test taker can affect scores e. g. kids were given the. Wechsler scale and half of them were given it with a friendly examiner and the other half were neutral; for some kids, the scores were higher if examiner was friendly. Compared examiners who made approving vs. disapproving comments or neutral comments disapproving comments made kids have lower scores than those with neutral or approving. For younger kids, familiar examiners make a difference because this enhances their scores. There are also interviewer effects such that you give the response that you think the interviewer expects this is response acquiescence and can cause systematic bias. People tend to disclose more info on self-report than interview. Computer administration is as reliable as traditional test administration but there can be issues with mechanical administration. Some feel that their kids should only be tested by someone of their own race because if not, they will get lower scores.
