PSYC37H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 8: Three Steps, Interpersonal Attraction, Job Performance
Document Summary
In a structured interview the interviewer asks a specific set of questions: in a structured standardized interview, these questions are printed. The interviewer reads the questions in a specific order or sequence: the structured interview is said to be directive. In an unstructured interview there are no specific questions, or guidelines for the interviewer to follow: each unstructured interview is unique, this kind of interview is said to be nondirective, an employment interview a. k. a selection interview. Reciprocal nature of interviewing: criminal suspects were observed while being interrogated, and researchers found that if one of the participants in the interview increased his or her activity levels, then the activity of the other participant also increased. Increased activity on the part of the suspect was related to increased suspicion towards the suspect from the interrogator. Results revealed that highly active interrogators increased activity in the suspects, which, in turn, increased the interrogators" suspiciousness.
