Socioemotional system- limbic system and mid brain areas; processing centre for reward seeking, soicla information, and emotional reactions that are easily aroused during puberty. Peak of logical reasoning at 16, when their psychosocial maturity is far less developed= high- level of vulnerability to risk taking. 2 paths do not merge until 25. Socioemotional network is sensitive to social and emotional stimuli and is remodeled in early adolescence by hormonal changes of puberty; cognitive network matures gradually independent of puberty: coercion developmental theory: Poor parental monitoring of child activities, disruptive family transitions, inconsistent parental discipline are psychosocial contributors to early- onset delinquency; family environment. Social learning theory- developmental trajectories for antisocial behaviour are initiated, maintained and diversified as a result of cumulative daily social experiences with people that are highly aversive, inconsistent and unsupportive.
