Psyb45 Lec 4 - Ethical considerations when considering ABAB design: - If behaviour being looked at is harmful to the individual, such as behaviors of self harm for someone with autism (hitting head against stuff) - behaviour could get worst Anything is a stimulus if it affects your nervous system Positive and negative reinforcement ALWAYS increases a behaviour - neg. reinforcement is NOT punishment - look at target, consequence of behaviour, and what happened to behaviour in future If behaviour becomes strengthened, is reinforcement if it involves the presentation of a stimulus and is positive, is positive reinforcement if it involves the removal of an aversive stimulus, is negative reinforcement escape – something that takes place; are learnt - occurs when aversive stimulus is already present avoidance – over time, gets strengthened - occurs when aversive stimulus has not occurred yet or may not occu
