Document Summary

Behaviours have one or more dimensions that can be measured you can measure the frequency of the behaviour, measure duration, measure intensity these are all physical dimensions of a behaviour. Behaviours can be observed, described, and recorded by others or by the person engaging in the behaviour. Behaviours have an impact on the environment, other people, and also yourself. Behaviour is lawful and systematically influenced by environmental events. Once you understand the environmental events that cause behaviours to occur, you can change the events in the environment to alter behaviour. Overt behaviour: action that can be observed and recorded by a person other than the one engaging in the behaviour. Covert behaviour: not observable to others (private events) e. g. thinking. Causes of behaviour must be found in the environment. For procedures to be effective each time they are used, the specific changes in environmental events must also occur each time.
