Brief history of labour - productivity - amount of goods or services produced for every hour worked. Agricultural revolution - ten thousand years ago. Lived in nomadic tribes - people in fertile valleys herd cattles, grew plants using simple tools. Use of tools to herd cattle and grow plants - as well as domestication of animals to do those things (ox pulling plows) Industrial revolution - 15th century on - international exploration, trade, commerce. Made manufacturing the dominant economic sector, based on production of finished goods and trade in markets. Markets - social relations that regulate the exchange of goods and services.
