Population: is the entire group of individuals that a researcher is interested in. It is hard to obtain information from the whole group. Sample: a part of the population that is used to collect data about the whole population. Opinion polls: is an example of a sample survey. This allows one to determine information about the whole population. These samples can be a representative" of the population.
