Document Summary

Biome climate charact- eristics (patterns of temp- erature and precipitation) For tdfb to develop, it needs alteration between warm summers and cold winters, but precipitation has to be the same all year- round. These kind of trees have broadleaves, they are adapted to cold, snowy winters and mild summers. During summer the leaves have plenty of area to absorb light and do photosynthesis, but then during winter the leaves can be really damaged by snow because they have larger area and snow can be heavy. Trees prefer to sacrifice their leaves in winter. More in the north were winters are extreme snowy, we find trees with sclerophyll leaves (short leaves and short internodes) because are better adapted to snow. More in the south (hot environment), broad leaves will be cooking in the sun, soil does not keep so much moisture and broad leaves depend on evaporating cooling.
