The relationship between workers and employers has major implications for economic growth and that is why the study of industrial relations is so important. There are various issues such as how unions put workers at an advantage while other people say unions don"t prote(cid:272)t (cid:449)orkers et(cid:272). These are large issues and that is why the study of industrial relations is more than just learning about the rules and regulations. We need to develop a proper understanding. objectives: studying industrial relations and conceptual foundation. There are various definitions of industrial relations but we will start off by defining it as the study of relations between labor and management. Labor refers to all working people who do not exercise substantive authority. Substantive authority is not only authority over others, but authority to make organizational decisions. So under the term substantive authority all sorts of people are included such as low level supervisors, nurses, etc.
