Document Summary
Prologue 5-15: two brother shahrayar and shahzaman each rules a piece of land, shahrayar was more powerful and gave his brother the other land. Shahrayar sends his vizier and two daughters, shahrizad and dinarzad to go request that shahzaman come and visit him. Shahzaman saw his wife in the arms of the cook, and out of anger killed them both. Due to his pain at being cheated on, he began to neglect his natural duties of eating, sleeping, etc and his brother watched his health deteriorate. He thought it was because he was homesick and decided to send him home. Shahzaman later saw ten black slaves making love to ten slave girls, and saw a black man named mus"ud making love to his brother"s wife. Shahzaman began to feel better and eat because he was no longer alone in his misery. Shahrayar confronts his brother and asks him why he was so sick earlier and so much better now.
