Document Summary

Immunity: body"s ability to protect itself from viruses, bacteria, and other disease causing entities: human immune system consists of lymphoid tissues, immune cells and chemicals that coordinate and execute immune functions, immune function depends heavily on cell to cell communication, particularly local communication by cytokines and contact dependent signaling. Malaria protozoan are parasitic organisms that are introduced to body by biting insects; their life cycles alternate between human and mosquito hosts: other parasites enter through digestive tract via contaminated food and water, others, such as the fungi that cause valley fever, are inhaled, others like schistosoma burrow through host"s skin. Some viruses add an envelope of phospholipid and protein made from the host"s cell membrane and incorporate viral proteins in the envelope: living conditions and reproduction: most bacteria can survive and reproduce outside a host, as long as they have required nutrients, temperature, ph etc.
