Document Summary
Sensation- stimuli that we receive through different senses, body, parts, etc. Perception- the conscious and individual experience of the stimuli. Further processing of the stimuli or sensory sensation. Quantitative perception- the intensity and speed of the neurons firing patterns. Qualitative- properties and characteristics of the stimuli or sensation. Transduction- a process by which sensory receptors produce neural impulses when they receive physical or chemical stimulation. Keep in mind- only the sensory neurons response to the stimulus in the outside world, and the neurons in the mind only response to these neurons that receives the stimulus from the outside world. Course coding- different coding patterns or neural impulses corresponds with different perceived stimuli. The in sync behavior of these different coding patterns and neural firing patterns allow us to determine the different between a variety of sensations and stimuli. Absolute threshold- a sufficient intensity of stimuli in order for the body to sense and process the stimuli.
