Idiographic approach: focused on creating detailed descriptions of a specific person"s unique personality characteristics: i. e. criminal profilers may focus on a detailed study of a serial killer in order to help police with their investigation. Personality trait: describes a person"s habitual patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving; how that person is most of the time . Summarize about a person i. e. an extraverted person is more likely to be comfortable in social situations, and hence attend more parties and an introverted person. Personality tests, trait labels and ask individual how well it rates him/her.
