Document Summary

Scieniic research strives for objecivity which assumes that certain facts about the world can be observed and tested independently from the individual who describes them. As soon as one observes an event, their interpretaion of it becomes subjecive which means that their knowledge of the event is shaped by prior beliefs, expectaions, experiences and moods. Quality scieniic research meets the following criteria"s: it is based on measurements that are objecive, valid and reliable, it can be generalized, it uses techniques that reduce bias, it is made public, it can be replicated. Variable: object, concept or event being measured: greater number of measurements opions allows to examine the same variable (i. e. anxiety) in diferent ways in order to understand the diferent elements of behaviour. Operaional deiniions: statements that describe the procedures and speciic measures that are used to record observaions: in order for researchers to answer their quesions carefully, they must decide upon a precise deiniion other researchers can understand.
