PSY201H1 Chapter Notes - Chapter 2: Frequency Distribution, Percentile, Percentile Rank
Document Summary
Frequency distributions - organized tabulation of the number of individuals located in each category on the scale of measurement. Simplify the organization and presentation of data. Places scores in order from highest to lowest. Grouping together individuals who all have the same score. Allows the researcher to see the entire set of scores and shows whether the scores are generally high or low, whether they are concentrated in one area or spread out. Presents the measurement scale by listing the different measurement categories (x values) in a column from highest to lowest. Beside each x value, we indicate the frequency that particular measurement occurred in the data. It is essential to use the information in the f column and the x column to obtain the full set of scores. Use the information in the table to recover the complete list of individual scores before you begin any computations. Multiply each x vaolue by its frequency and then add the products.
