Drop in bbt during the ferile window and drops even more on day of ovulaion. If not sustained rise in bbt (10-12 days) ovulaion may not be occurring. Morula: 8-cell mass in spherical form, 3-4 days post ferilizaion. Blastocyst: cell mass with a cavity 4-5 days post ferilizaion. Contains inner mass (will become embryo) and outer mass (will become placenta). The burrowing of the organism into the uterine lining where it is nourished. Germinal period: first 2 weeks of development ater concepion. Characterized by rapid cell division and the beginning of cell difereniaion. Embryonic period: from 3rd week to the 8th week post concepion. A period during which the rudimentary forms of all anatomical structures develop. Fetal period: the 9th week post concepion unil birth. A period during which the organs grow in size and complexity. Established once the embryo (conceptus) has implanted in the uterus. Starts secreing human chorionic gonadotropic (hcg) hormone: blocks regression of corpus luteum.
