Emic approach: an approach that is culture-specific, focusing on a single culture on its own terms. Etic approach: an approach that is cross-cultural, searching for generalities across cultures. F-scale: scale developed to measure someone"s proneness to be rigid and authoritarian. Different scales are needed for different cultures. You cannot expect a scale to be as accurate once the culture has changed. Race as a flawed approach to grouping people. Ethnic group: a group whose membership is based primarily on shared cultural habits or customs.
