Research: a systematic way of finding answers to questions method of inquiry that follows certain rules. It is good to have skepticism in research leads us towards finding alternatives/truths. It is the accumulation of findings that advance the fields with regards to research. Facilitated communication: a highly controversial and misused procedure for teaching children with autism and other impairments to communicate. With this method, a facilitator provides manual assistance by lightly holding a child"s hand/wrist/arm, while the child supposedly communicates by typing on a keyboard/pointing to letters. Facilitator supposed to help the child press keys they want to, but not influence key selection but the assistance is continued indefinitely so there are possibilities of direct influence. Fc received exposure in the media saying children who received it has literacy and intellectual competence but research indicated that the child"s supposed communication is being controlled by the facilitator.
