RLG100Y1 Chapter Notes - Chapter The Figure of God in the three Monotheistic Traditions: Pope Francis
Document Summary
The figure of god in the three monotheistic traditions. For this week"s brief reading, one of the prompts at the end of the chapter questioned if. Muslims, jews, and christians all prayed to and worshipped the same deity. Although it may seem impossible, yahweh, allah and god are all the same being whose long narrative is similarly depicted across the three religious texts of the torah, the bible, and the qur"an. They also collectively agree on the idea that people stem from the descendants of abraham, the belief in god"s twofold judgment awaiting humans, the sacredness of the holy scriptures, and god"s image of a father gure. They regard god"s powers of omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience to be true and believe in him as a transcendent spiritual gure that can not be physically represented. Both judaism and islam claim that god is but one singular person who embodies all of the notions of the trinity but yet is not triune.
