3: attraction interpersonal attraction: the desire to approach someone. Based on the fundamental assumption that we are attracted to people whose presence is rewarding to us. It acts as an accentuator if someone is likeable, disagreeable, attractive, etc. , close proximity makes them even more so. It increases the chances that 2 people"s paths will cross, making them more familiar with one another, & familiarity breeds contempt. Mere exposure effect: people who have just been merely exposed to someone/thing (even if you don"t know that you have been in its presence), exposure to it again makes it feel familiar, which makes us like it more. Proximity is rewarding & makes it easy to enjoy the rewards of a relationship, whereas distance is costly & requires lots of effort (ii) physical attractiveness: how appealing someone"s looks are to us. Most potent in uence on how much 2 will initially like each other.
