After things were supposed to be wonderful: the allies had won, marriage and birth rates soared, and the gi bill secured home loans and access to education for veterans. Clearly america was/is the world"s dominant social, economic, political and military power. But during the golden age, social problems in america were increasing (crime rates, alcohol addictions, etc. : the war makes people see things that most people have not seen that change them. However they still believe they are the same person as they were before the war.
