Etic approach- study of the behaviour of a culture from the perspective of an outsider. Naive realism: the belief that we see the world precisely as it is; seeing is believing . Common sense can also be helpful guide for generating hypotheses that scientists can later test in rigorous investigations science is an approach to evidence; science begins with empiricism- the premise that knowledge should initially be acquired through observation. Scientific theory- an explanation for a large number of findings in the natural world. Testable prediction; specific predictions derived from explanations.
