Deleon in 2013 was conducting research by killing pigs, putting them in human clothes and abandoning them in the desert while being monitored. This was to better understand how fast decomposition happens in the desert and the impact scavenging animals have on bodies. He is trying to observe post-mortem violence on the corpses and how they tie into bigger hybrid collectif of things that happen due to border patrols to name a few. He acknowledges the hypocrisy of trying to show violence to one group while performing violence to another (the pigs) The border patrol uses language of feigned naivet and de ection of blame. It is they who drive them to the desert. Necropolitics is killing in the name of sovereignty. Dictating who must live and who must die.
