Chapters 9 and 10: jonathan changes greatly since the start of the novel. At first he is having a great trip until he realizes that the count isn"t quite human, and shares the castle with three undead women who want to suck his blood. He manages to make his way to budapest before collapsing with a terrible brain fever from the shock. Mina does not read jonathan"s journal because she does not want to know what has drove him mad: we learn from dr. seward that van helsing had been had been his professor in. Amsterdam, and knows a great deal about obscured diseases. We also learn that he is a philosopher and metaphysician, and one of the most advanced scientists of his day. 4: van helsing asks dr. seward to keep everything about lucy a secret until they were certain about what was going on. She demands sexual satisfaction, and starts to become much more voluptuous .
