Document Summary
The plague genoese arrived in the summer of 1347 through infected sailors. People did not travel and stayed home away from people, in fear of contagion. In cyprus, there was a tremendous earthquake and tidal wave during the plague: people thought their arab slaves would rebel so, they placed into ruined olive groves and killed them. Accused of killing her husband the king with her lover. Central italy, late winter-early spring 1348: established a special municipal health commission with quasi-military powers, infected people were removed. Killed rich and the poor: giovanni boccaccio created a story about the plague. People did not want to be near anyone including their own families. There would have been more survivors if someone would have assisted them. Women even asked for assistance from men because of the lack of women servers willing to help: people were no longer mourning for their dead relatives.
