Judith jarvis thomson: even if the fetus is a person with a right to life, it doesn"t mean abortion is impermissible (prohibited/intolerable) Don marquis: even if fetuses lack the capacity for self-conscious awareness, it does not follow that abortion is permissible. Thomson says that no woman is morally required to allow a fetus to develop to term, so aborting a fetus and detaching one"s body from it is morally permissible.
