Part 1: reporting under the federal law: introduction. There are a relatively small number of narrowly-de ned mandatory reporting obligations under federal law. Physicians and others must report to a designated of cial a member of an airline, marine and railway crew who is believed to have a health condition that poses safety risk. Physicians, pharmacists and others must report to the minister if controlled drugs have been lost or stolen from their of ce. Internet service providers must report to a speci ed organization the address or url where child pornography is available to the public. Providers must also report to the police if they reasonably believed that their internet server is or has been used to commit a child pornography offence: reporting under the criminal code. It is not a criminal offence to fail to report past or future crimes, except for imminent acts of treason or high treason.
