It is born out of contradiction: material study of immaterial things, ideas. Years ago, an ideologist was someone with their head in the clouds: tried to understanding or persuade people with ideas rather than realities. Can be defined as false consciousness: ability to see real conditions because they are masked by false ideas, false or misleading because it is mystifying. It is prescriptive: offers a new course that might somehow be free from the mystifications of false ideas. E. g. , politicians use ideology to cover social or political problems. E. g. , teen crime, it is blamed on rap music, tv, radio, but not considered that it could be because it is too hard to get a job and there are no opportunities for young people. Ideology critique: an attempt to show the concrete explanation that is hidden inside the ideological or mystical shell. Shows the way things are, a whole way of life in a social group.
