All research studies begin with questions and/or hypotheses. 1st step in developing evidence informed practice is to ask a uestion (clinical q) In a resarch study, the research question & hypothesis lead to the development of a research study, whereas in a project on evidence-informed practice, the clinical q leads u to the study. Research questions are generated from situations or problems that emerge from practice. This article addresses the continuing prevalence of poor communication during the diagnostic window of time within the time experience: Research question: presents idea that is to be examined in the study & is the foundation of the research study. Once research q is clear, research design is chosen. If research q is primarily exploratorative, descriptive, or theory generating, -> qualitative. If specific answer is being sought after from research q, a hypothesis is made & tested. Hypothese: intelligent hunches, guesses or predictions aiding researchers to seek the solution or answer the research q.
