Adolescents: testicular growth begins and scrotal skin thins, during puberty the testes become active and begin to secrete testosterone, promotes bone maturation and epiphyseal closure, genital hair begins to appear, length and width of penis is increased. Older men: experience distension of rectum from degeneration of afferent neurons in the rectal wall, interferes with relaxation of internal sphincter, pubic hair becomes finer, gray, and less plentiful, testosterone levels decline with aging: tanner stages: male development, <10: no pubic hair, testes and penis are small, 10 13: sparse thin hair at base, testes enlarge, scrotal skin becomes coarser and redder, 12 14: scrotum and tests continue to grow, penis lengthens, pubic hari increases, becomes darker, coarse, curly and extends laterally, 13 15: penis and testes continue to grow, pubic hair extends across pubis, 14 17: penis at full size, pubic hair is diamond shaped in appearance with adult colour, questions:
