P. 20 the roles of the media determine the role moralities of the media, which are constrained by universal public morality. Why an action is right or wrong or why a person or a person"s character is good or bad. What action makes it right, what character make is good, etc. Natural law theory promote good and avoid evil. View of right action based on conform to moral standards in nature/human reason. Noted: all nature is teleological and rational -> direct toward particular goal. Good action -> bad effect (only acceptable if not foreseeable and not important) Moral theories based on the idea of social contract, agreement/mutual advantage. Principle of result under fair and unbiased choices. Information ethic as a guide for the media. Epistemological conduct concerning knowledge and involves principles of justification, belief, and truth. Ethical conduct concerning morality, both private and public, harm minimizing and increase of the common good as well as respect for people"s fundamental rights.
