Philosophy 3810F/G Chapter : Callinicos Chapter Three Summary.docx
Document Summary
The values implicit in the global movement"s critique of capitalism are justice, efficiency, democracy and sustainability. These values are inconsistent with a market economy in polanyi"s sense that is, an economic system governed by the self-regulating market. Neither of the most widely supported strategies for humanizing the market- market socialism and a more regulated version of capitalism is likely to work. A democratically planned socialist economy perhaps along the lines of pat devine"s model of negotiated coordination offers the best hope of realizing the values of the anti-capitalist movement.
