Reliability and validity go hand in hand, not one without the other. The confidence we can have in our research will yield the same result again and again. External = the way conclusions from the research/experiments are used to generalize about certain segments of the population. Internal = the quality and ethical standards used while designing the survey/experiment. Subject matter expert = person or an institution that is reliable and objective and can be a source of information/opinion on your topic. Not all political research is time-sensitive but finding the most recent and credible sources is best. Finding relevance is very hard, but ask professor for help. Can all be tainted by; emotions, political concerns, source of funding, biases, prejudice.
