Mental illness is a legal concept and it typically means that there is severe emotional or thought disturbances that negatively affect an individuals health and safety. Each province has a different de nition though. Particularly controversial concept for people bc being mentally ill doesn"t mean you"re more dangerous but thats widely believed. Homelessness isn"t exclusive to those who are mentally ill but it is determined by social views of people with mental illness.
