Prodromal phase (social withdrawal and poor hygiene for gradual onset) Residual phase (psychotic symptoms are no longer present but negative symptoms still remain) Estrogen levels have a strong impact on brain development. Lose more cortical gray matter over 5 years. Sudden onset of psychotic symptoms - last less than a month.
